Top Tips to reduce your Grocery Bill.

In the past 6 months I think I have had the conversation 100 times on how to reduce the cost of food. Mums and Dads are all feeling the pain off the increase cost of the grocery bill! Every week it seems to be more and more!

So here are my top tips to lower your bill and keep some more pennies in your pocket!

- Buy staples in bulk

- Plan your 3x meals and snacks for the week and only shop once a week (twice if you need a fresh food top up)

- Create your shopping list and stick to it

- Don’t shop when you’re hungry. (Not only does this limit unplanned purchases, it also limits unplanned kilojoules when you’re trying to control your weight).

- Make your own kombucha, sourdough, sauces and marinades - anything you can make from scratch is going to save you money in the long run

- Use what you already have, what’s in season and what’s on special. For example, almost any vegetable can be cooked in stock and pureed to make a delicious winter soup

- Buy smaller amounts of meat, chicken and fish and extend meals by adding legumes, extra vegetables and grains

- Cook once, eat twice: for example, make a double batch of Bolognese and have one night with pasta and one night with jacket potatoes
